List do host family

Dear future host family,
At the beginning I would like to thank you for your interest. My name is Aleksandra, but everyone calls me Ola. This year in October I will be 19 years old. I live in Zamość – it’s a lovely, small town located in the south-eastern Poland. It’s very climatical, with many monuments and attractions for tourists. In addition, the old town of Zamość was inscribed on the list of World Heritage UNESCO. I live with my parents, younger sister and two dogs, we live in a detached-house. My mom Dorota is 46 years old and she is a nurse, so often teaches me how to help sick people. My dad Piotr is 49 years old and he is an office worker. We often go together to the matches and cheer our national volleyball team. My younger sister Julia is 9 years old and since I can remember I have helped my mom to look after her. We play together, I also help her with homework. My older sister Dominika is 23 years old and she studies business in the capital of Poland – Warsaw. She is a born traveler and she has instilled a love for traveling in me. I also have two dogs! One of them Lora is a dalmation, and Lena is a yorkshire terrier. I love spending time with them, because I love animals so much. I’m very close with my family, we talk a lot with each other and I know that I can always count on them.
This year I graduated my High School. I attended law-orientated class, because civics studies have been my favorite subject since I can remember and in the future I would like to work as a lawyer.
I love spending time with children. I have taken care of the children at different age, starting from babies up to teenagers. My adventure with taking care of children started when my little sister was born. I was 10 years old then and I wanted to help my mom looking after her. I helped in the baths, I prepared a bottle of milk, I also learned to change nappies. Over time when I was growing up I became ready stay with her alone at home. Then I was fully responsible for her and I tried to make my younger sister safe and happy. I used to read fairytales to her, we were playing in the garden, I put her to sleep, prepared meals, changed her clothes. Now, when my sister is already nearly 10 years old I help with her homework and give lifts to additional classes.
The real work with children began when my neighbor asked me to take care of her 7 months daughter Pola. ‘Why not?’, I thought, ‘after all I love it!’. It was a big challenge for me, but I was doing very well. It was just a summer job, but I learned how to handle with toddlers. My duties included: nappy changing, preparing milk’s bottle, putting to bed. We often went out for a walk together, I also tried to provide her some games which could develop her. It was a wonderful experience for me when I watched her growing up and taking her first steps.
Throughout the years, I also took care of two kids. It was 2 year-old Kornelia, and 4 year-old Miłosz. It was very challenging to look after two children at the same time, but it wasn’t so difficult. Except for standard duties such as shared fun and preparing meals, I also tried to teach them some cool short rhymes and songs. Sometimes I organized picnics in the garden, we also swam in the small pool. I got on well with them. Whenever I came to them every morning hugged me saying that came their favorite aunt. It was lovely for me. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to take care of these children and to participate in their development. It was amazing that I could treat them as younger siblings.
I’m very communicative person, and I haven’t problems in contacting people. I’m responsible, creative and patient. I always try to encourage kids to play in an interesting way, frequently change game for then to not get them bored quickly. Cooking isn’t my forte, but I’m continually learning and I’m doing my best. I can prepare simple meals, and recently I have even learned to bake cakes. I hope still improve soon. I passed my driving license exam in February 2015, not so long ago, but I drive a car everyday so I can say I’m a really good driver. I adore traveling. I have already visited: UK, Spain, Italy and France. USA is my dream since I can remember. I’m a very funny person, with whom you can joke, and I have also a huge distance to myself.
Why I want to be an au pair?
First of all, I love spending time with children, I always learn a lot from them, and they make me a lot of fun. The possibility of traveling is wonderful, as well as the opportunity to discover the American culture, which is my  interest for a long time. I’m very open-minded person so I would like to meet new people from different countries, make new friends and new cultures. I would like to know something more about your daily life and habits. It’s also the perfect time to improve my language to break out and communicate freely.
I hope you could get to know me better from this letter. I am ready to get in touch with you at any time if you need some more information.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Aleksandra

  1. Fajny list. :)
